basic deposit requirement

In South Korea, a basic deposit (gibon yetakgeum) is the minimum amount an investor must have on account before being allowed to trade certain high-risk products, including single-stock leveraged ETFs and ETNs. Regulators use this threshold to keep undercapitalized retail traders out of the riskiest instruments. Raising the amount, or requiring it in cash rather than securities, tightens who can access the product without banning it outright.
