Built in 2023 by Hyperliquid Labs, led by Jeff Yan. What sets it apart is that the party opening a market is separate. Anyone posting a large enough stake can open a new market, and that operator also decides where its price comes from and how much leverage to allow. Hyperliquid's own position is that it supplies only the infrastructure, which leaves responsibility unclear when an individual market's settings go wrong.
