X5R

X5R, X7R and X6S are EIA temperature-characteristic codes stamped on ceramic capacitors. X5R is the common, cheaper consumer-grade class; X6S and X7R hold their capacitance more precisely across a wider temperature range, which is why AI servers, which run hot and cannot tolerate power noise, need the higher grades. When makers shift production from X5R to X6S/X7R, consumer-grade supply tightens even though total output looks unchanged.
