Apple's biggest US manufacturing bet yet, and it runs through Broadcom

What Tim Cook announced is simple on its face: an expanded deal with chipmaker Broadcom to produce billions more chips in the US, which he pinned as the largest commitment in the history of Apple's American manufacturing program. What's notable is what the announcement doesn't contain: no dollar figure, no timeline. The only measures of scale are 'billions of chips' and 'largest ever.' The direction is clear enough, though. Apple is drawing up a chip supply chain that runs start to finish inside the US, and this deal is one piece of that puzzle. For investors, the important part is which company collects that piece: Broadcom.

Why it matters · Onshoring is moving from politics to purchase orders. Apple's volume is what makes a domestic silicon supply chain financially real, and Broadcom is the one collecting.
