ETF

Short for Exchange Traded Fund. It lets you buy and sell a whole basket, the S&P 500, a chip-sector index, in real time like a single stock. Because it offers market exposure without stock picking, it became the standard vehicle for passive money, and flows into ETFs are now themselves a force that moves market supply and demand.
