Short for Tensor Processing Unit, Google's self-designed AI accelerator built to reduce its reliance on Nvidia GPUs. It's used mainly for Google Cloud and training and inference of Google's own AI models, and draws attention as an alternative whenever Nvidia GPU supply is tight or expensive.
