Yanbu sits at the western end of the East-West pipeline, which carries crude 746 miles across Saudi Arabia from the eastern fields. Loading there avoids the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz entirely, but cargoes still have to leave the Red Sea through the Bab al-Mandeb strait.
