Supermicro says next year it will sell 1.75 times this year's revenue
Insane earnings today for the AI theme with $CRWV, $SMCI, and $LITE.
Coreweave: Absurd ~$104B+ backlog, which doesn't include $25B+ of new customer agreements added in early Q3.

Supermicro:…
Supermicro told the market it expects $65 billion to $72 billion in revenue next fiscal year. The number analysts had been working with was $52.5 billion.
Super Micro forecasts upbeat annual revenue (Reuters via Investing.com, 2026-08-11)CoreWeave and Lumentum reported the same evening, and all three came in above what the market had penciled in. Serenity read the evening as proof that every layer of the AI buildout is running and that it has started to show up in earnings.
The company's own number sits $16 billion above the one the market was preparing for.

Where the three companies sit
These three are not rivals. They stand in a single line. Putting AI compute into a data center takes more than chips. Something has to hold the chips, something has to carry signals between the boxes as light, and someone has to rent the finished stack out by the hour.
If one layer jams, the layers behind it have no way to earn. Three of those layers reported on the same day, which is why these numbers read as one set.
The other numbers CoreWeave published
CoreWeave's second quarter revenue was $2.575 billion, more than double a year earlier. Its backlog, the contracted money it has not yet collected, stood at about $104 billion at the end of June. That is up from $99.4 billion in March, and more than $25 billion of fresh commitments were added in early July.
CoreWeave Q2 revenue reaches $2.58 billion as backlog grows to $104 billion (Blockspace, 2026-08-11)The same release carried a second set of numbers. Net loss for the quarter was $626 million, up 116% from $290 million a year earlier, and $6.422 billion went out the door for property and equipment in those three months. A backlog is money promised, not money received. Collecting it means building the data centers first, and the building is paid for now. Spending $6.4 billion while earning $2.6 billion in a single quarter leaves a gap that has to be filled with debt or equity.
What Supermicro's $68.5 billion leaves behind
The same kind of question sits on the Supermicro side. Assembling and selling servers is a business where revenue can grow without much of it staying. Serenity made the point himself, writing that 2027 margins were the most important thing to learn from the call. Even at $70 billion of revenue, a gross margin in the low teens leaves roughly $7 billion to $10 billion, and operating costs come out of that. So what this guidance proved splits two ways. Read as evidence that AI capital spending is real, the three sets of numbers are hard to argue with, because they come from orders already booked rather than forecasts. Read the other way, the larger the backlog and the order book grow, the larger the capital needed to turn them into physical machines. If Supermicro's annual revenue clears $65 billion when the year closes in August 2027, the number it called today held; below that, orders and revenue have drifted apart.
- CoreWeave, Supermicro and Lumentum all reported on the same day, and all three beat expectations.
- Supermicro's revenue guidance for next fiscal year came in $16 billion above consensus.
- In the same release CoreWeave's quarterly net loss more than doubled to $626 million, and its capital spending ran to more than twice its revenue.
